Before I didn't like to read at all. I tried to interest myself in it a bunch of times, but i never caught on. For Christmas I was surprised with a kindle. Ever since i bought my first book on it, I can never put it down. I was never a great writer, I've always had trouble but now whenever I write papers for college or anything else important i make sure i read over it at least two times. Last semester my teacher helped me which made me become better than when I first started college.

this week..
Last week I went to Dr. Minslow's office to review my paper. After we talked I looked at all the corrections she made and began looking up information that could make my final persuasive paper better. I am about to begin my paper after I type this and hopefully I will get it done and be satisfied tonight with it. I also need to start my portfolio which i plan on doing tomorrow since we do not have class.

This past week..
Last week we spent most our time working on our projects. The class shared what each of us were doing, who our NPO's are and what the two rhetoric projects we would be doing. Finally, my NPO emailed me back. I have made the decision that im going to go to Project Halo and make a video of the animals and staff members. My second rhetoric project would be making a poster that i could hang up around school and places like Petco. We also have a quiz this week that I need to start studying for!

Photo Collage Maker
How does this represent my idenitiy?
This represents my identity by I provided pictures of things that have shaped my life and made me become who I am today. I would have liked to added photos of the ones I brought to class. I believe those showed my true identity because most of them I was in but the pictures I chose in class today represent those factors which contribute to my identity. The picture of the couple holding hands with the heart drawn on them represents my past relationships, they have taught me so much and made me wiser in choosing the qualities I look for in a boy. Another picture was a family sitting down at a table which also connects to the two sisters holding hands on the beach. My family has made a huge impact on who I am today. Theres also a picture of a girl celebrating after a win of a basketball game. I use to play basketball and I still love the sport. The movie the Notebook has made me a helpless romantic and I dream of having the relationship they had in the movie. My job has definatly made me who I am today. I've had four jobs so far and I make sure I work hard and do what is expected of me.
What are the links between images and identity in our society? (What types of images do I identify with?)
Photos describe who we are and is in a way like a timeline of our life. We see photos of us when we are babies all the way up till our current age. As we look at photos they describe our growth and what we have become over the years. Some photos that are shown in my collage represent things that I have been through. As we walk through the streets, see on the television, or even in things we read, our society is constantly telling us what is beautiful, strong, intelligent, hard-working, most of the time it is all illustrated through pictures.

American 24/7
Our assignment was to reread an article written by Patrick Cox. The article was "America 24/7" In it, the author mentions how Rick Smolan and David Elliot Cohen captured remarkable series of images of the lives of everyday Americans during one week in May 2003. They decided to use a digital camera instead of taking videos. The author then goes on about how photos are sacred to families and treasures to us. The photos that are captured in "America 24/7" are not a glitzy version of a Hollywood personality venue that is often promoted as the image desired by Americans. The photos capture the true essence of American character and communities. The photos that I expect to see in the exhibit would be unposed, children playing, family dinners, birthday parties, family gatherings, you would see different races and ethnicities. It would capture people from all age groups.
My assumption was true, the pictures captured people of all different ages and were unposed. It was great looking at the different kinds of pictures.

Class Review
This week in class we talked about the movie, Capitalism: A Love Story. On the board, the whole class participated by going up to the board and writing down different elements from the movie. This really helped because it forced us to go in depth and analyze different parts of the movie. We also received back our proposal papers. Friday class we learned how to analyze photos rhetorically. We used photos in the book and it was really interesting to hear the different prospectives as if you were something that was in the picture.

Capitalism: A love story
This week in class we watch an interesting documentary on a film made by Michael Moore. He is a hard critic which make people either hate him or like him. I think he is very inspiring and the movie that was shared in class this week of his really had me thinking. Throughout the film he showed many homeowners and workers losing their job and houses. He mostly related to the pathos of the audience. It made me feel sorry for them and it was as almost I could feel what they were feeling. It's a horrible thing to go through and I'm glad I haven't had to experience that yet in my lifetime. The movie also informed us just how bad our economy is and I appreciate what Michael Moore is doing. He's taking a step and doing anything he can to help. He's not afraid of what someone will say and I think we need more people like him to help push us in the right direction.

What I learned so far
This week in English we went over more things we need to know in order to complete our Major Inquiry Project. Our proposals are due Wednesday and we discussed in class how to narrow down our topic, what is expected to be in the paper and most importantly what sources are reliable and useful to us. Before I was debating on two topics to do my paper on but the free right we did in class was very helpful, we didn't have to focus on grammar or if it even flowed, she just wanted us to write and not stop! It was fun actually and I finally decided to do my topic on animal abuse. I still have to narrow it down but we learned how to use the computer for better research and that will defiantly help me. I also learned that annotating your research will really help and save time.

What I learned Post 2
This week in class I learned what Logos, Pathos, and Ethos is. I have never heard of these before so it was interesting to learn about them. Most arguments appeal to all three. I also learned more vocabulary which was Post hoc, Cum Hoc, Hasty Generalizations, either-or-argument, stacking the evidence, begging the question, and the red herring. We watched more youtube videos that were very powerful and that helped the class to understand and pick out the logos, pathos, and ethos in the commercial. What really helped me this week in class was when we went in the library. I just transferred here this semester so i hadn't been in the library yet. Learning about how to look up articles specifically definitely helped and will be at great use when I start my project.

This week in English
This week in English I learned how to set up a blog and how it works. The class also learned what rhetoric means which is the ability to discern the available means of persuasion in any given situation. It is important to know who your audience is. We viewed advertisements and cartoons in order to determine the rhetoric situation. We went over what a thesis statement is an why it is important to know. It's a big part of your paper and basically it summarizes what you are going to write about. Even though I have been taught this before Im glad we reviewed over these things because having a different teacher, I now know what she expects from me and I understand the subject better, especially with some of the examples she shows us.

This picture is basically describing how society is today and how it has changed over time. Years ago the children held responsibility for their actions now it's completely different. Parents are now accusing the teachers of failing their child because in their eyes, their children are perfect and it's never their fault. Parents in todays society, I believe, are less strict than how parents were years ago. My parents and other adults have mentioned to me the difference of how they were raised than how I am raised. Parents could get away with a lot back then which is why punishment was more harsh.
